  > Place orders online – in the new SCHURTER e-shop
On May 1, 2012, SCHURTER will launch its completely redesigned e-shop and in doing so give its customers around the world the new ability to place orders fast, securely, simply and anonymously.

With its new e-shop, SCHURTER aims first of all to support engineers during the design-in process. This will make it convenient for them to order evaluation samples easily and anonymously. The e-shop is thus not intended primarily as a sales channel but rather as a service oriented to customer requirements.

With this approach, once a transaction is complete, SCHURTER will not use the data necessary for orders and shipments for any other purposes. For customers, this anonymous ordering process means: no calls from the sales force, no e-mails and no additional use or forwarding of personal information. In addition, 128-bit encryption makes electronic payment absolutely secure.

The e-shop stands out further because of its intuitive menu guidance. As opposed to standard practice, navigation is done outside the e-shop through the items offered for sale on the SCHURTER website. Once a customer has selected a product, he is forwarded to the e-shop where he himself checks, in real time, if sufficient quantities of the items are in stock. If articles are available, it is possible to place an order in the e-shop without any delay. In this way, recently introduced products in particular are available immediately after their launch.

In total, more than 15,000 items are in stock at both the Swiss and US hubs. SCHURTER ships all orders from these locations within 24 hours. With the Express shipment option, the goods are in customers’ hands within two to three business days, and with the Standard option in four to seven days. Thanks to tracking numbers issued by our shipping partners TNT, UPS and FedEx, recipients always know where their shipments are at any time.

SCHURTER’s e-shop offers a fast, customer-friendly way to place an order – and this around the clock. Alternatively, interested parties have at their disposal a contact form that is likewise tied into the e-shop; this is useful if a desired item is not available or cannot be ordered, when customer-specific requirements are involved or the customer would like to get advice. > The SCHURTER Group 2011: Sales maintained, but with a slight decline in profit
Lucerne, 5 April 2012. The SCHURTER Group, active in the electronics industry as a supplier, was just able to maintain the sales level with CHF 190.4 million (- 1.6%) in 2011. However, the extensively export-oriented company was contending with a difficult currency exchange situation for the entire year, which due to the negative margin development, also had a negative impact on profit and cash flow. The head count remained stable with more than 1’600 employees.

The SCHURTER group along with its 18 subsidiaries worldwide started with strong sales and profit figures in the first half of 2011. However, from the middle of the year, the incoming orders decreased considerably. The significant lower sales in the second half of the year as well as the strong Swiss Franc had a lasting negative impact on the profit and loss account as well as on the balance sheet. In addition, towards the end of the year the incoming orders plummeted.

The three divisions of the SCHURTER group developed differently. The export-oriented division „Components“ had to accept a decline in sales by 4.4% to CHF 132.2 million. The division „Input Systems“, however, benefited from the continuing strong economic situation in the German speaking markets and increased its sales by 7.2% to CHF 38.0 million. The smallest of the three divisions, the „EMS“ division, had to cope with overly-extended delivery times for preliminary products which resulted in a decline in sales by 5.2% to CHF 20.2 million. The division „EMS“ practically only operates in Switzerland and Italy.

The result was extensively influenced by the strong Swiss Franc and the consequent deteriorating margins as well as by high operative depreciations. This amounted to CHF 7.5 million (3.9%) and the cash flow to CHF 16.1 million (8.4%). The comparison of both values to the previous year is limited, as the changeover of the accounting standard from OR to Swiss GAAP FER took place in 2011.

The number of employees remained stable with 1’658 persons, of which 514 are employed in Switzerland and 1’144 abroad.

As a family-owned enterprise with more than 1’600 employees worldwide, it is of utmost importance to the SCHURTER Group to continuously encourage innovations in the electronic components field and thus to preserve employment.

Swiss Employer Award 2011
> SCHURTER – third best employer in Switzerland
Again SCHURTER achieves an outstanding place in the Swiss Employer Award 2011. After its first place in the Employer Award 2005 and second place in 2009 SCHURTER achieved the 3rd place.

SCHURTER AG achieved an outstanding 3rd place in the Swiss Employer Award 2011. Victory this year went to Electrolux. Unlike customary assessments, this employer evaluation is conducted not by an expert jury but is instead based on the appraisals of the employees themselves. SCHURTER’s success shows that, even in a difficult environment, its employees stand by their company. Central to this loyalty is employee satisfaction, which is created by means of transparency in the company strategy, the management, the processes and the transfer of knowledge. SCHURTER has adopted a distinctive, modern management culture. The hierarchies are flat and every employee has the perfect opportunity to make a contribution. This is facilitated by the pleasant atmosphere within the company, the good working conditions and appropriate wages.

SCHURTER is proud to have received this award. With its first place in the Employer Award 2005 and second place in 2009, the company is clearly heading in the right direction. Winning third place in this year’s event provides the incentive to identify what it takes to be first and to implement the necessary measures to ensure the continued development of the firm. SCHURTER thanks all its employees for their participation and their critical evaluation of the company.

Eighty companies with a staff of more than 100 employees participated in the Swiss Employer Award 2011. BILANZ and the Swiss Employers’ Association were partners of the country’s largest employee survey.
